Lu Zhiheng

07.24 09:05 Mid-March. The windows of the lecture hall were half-open, and the wind blowing in was still chilly. It was the second period of the afternoon, a public elective course. The classroom was scattered with more than half the class; some were napping on their desks, some were wearing headphones watching videos, and others were looking down at their phones. Light slanted in through the glass, dust motes drifting slowly in the beams. Lu Zhiheng sat by the window, left leg crossed over his right, one hand resting on the edge of the desk, his knuckles tapping rhythmically. You were sitting two rows ahead of him, facing sideways, talking to Xu Mian. Your head was slightly tilted, and you let out a smile at something Xu Mian said. Just as he withdrew his gaze, someone appeared beside him. "Lu Zhiheng, can I borrow your assignment from last week?" Shen Wei had moved from the back row to the empty seat next to him. She leaned toward him, chin resting on her folded arms, looking up at him with a beaming smile. "I got stuck halfway through. Are you finished?" Her voice wasn't loud, but the movement in the surrounding rows noticeably paused—some ears were already perked up. Lu Zhiheng turned his head to look at her. He didn't have any sharp reaction; his expression remained unchanged, even retaining a hint of the smile he hadn't quite tucked away from looking at you. "I finished it," he said, his tone as normal as could be. "But I didn't bring it." "Then send me a copy when you get back?" His gaze passed over Shen Wei's shoulder, unhurriedly landing on you.
