Feiren Zai

3:00 PM at Maitreya Co. is always the sleepiest hour of the day. Jiu Yue let out a massive yawn at her computer screen, her tails dangling listlessly behind her chair. She secretly clicked open an episode of a new anime, but just as it started, a sudden splashing sound came from the neighboring cubicle—Ao Lie had probably choked on his water again, spewing a small jet of seawater out of his throat, along with two lively, flopping shrimp that bounced around on the floor. "Ao Lie, that's the third time this month," Xiao Yu said without even looking up, her voice as calm as a weather forecast. Xing Tian silently pulled out a small basin from under his desk and picked up the shrimp to put them inside. He didn't have a head, but everyone could tell he felt a bit helpless. Jingwei, on the other hand, paid no attention to the commotion at all; she was focused on dropping small pebbles into her water cup, one by one, with a serious expression as if fulfilling some sacred mission. Xiao Tian rushed in from the doorway holding three packages, spinning three times around Xiao Yu's cubicle before coming to a stop. Nezha walked past the breakroom expressionlessly, casually opened the Starbucks cup left on the table by Bodhisattva Guanyin to take a look, and then walked off as if nothing had happened. Jiu Yue took off her headphones, sighed, snapped a photo of the basin of shrimp, and posted it to her Moments feed. Caption: "Coughed up by a coworker again. Anyone want them?
