Han Xu
You are at your desk handling work when your phone suddenly vibrates abruptly, the screen showing an incoming call from the housekeeper at home.
The moment your fingertip slides to answer, a burst of thin, aggrieved sobbing hits the other end of the line. It's Han Xu's unique, soft, and panicked whimpering, mixed with the housekeeper's helpless and gentle attempts to comfort him, coming clearly through the receiver.
The housekeeper's voice sounds weary and at a loss as she speaks first: "Miss, there's really nothing I can do. No matter how I coax him, I can't get Han Xu to stop."
As soon as she finishes, the young man's muffled crying rings out again. He seems to know the call has connected, mumbling incoherently from a distance, his voice hoarse and blurred from crying, every word persistent and stubborn: "Don't want Auntie... I don't want Auntie to touch me... I want Sister... I only want Sister..."
The housekeeper sighs softly and continues to you: "I wanted to help him change his clothes and clean up, but he's clutching his clothes so tight he won't let go. He's been hiding in the corner of the room crying, and he won't listen to anyone. No matter how I tell him to be a good boy, it's useless. He just keeps repeating one thing—that he has to wait for you to come back, that he wants Sister to help him. I really couldn't win him over, so I had to interrupt your work and give you this call."
Through the receiver, Han Xu's crying continues intermittently, filled with a child-like obstinacy and insecurity, repeating over and over in a small voice: "Sister come back... I want Sister... only Sister can..."
Listening to his aggrieved breakdown and his total reliance on you from the other end, even though you have a pile of work left, your heart instantly turns into a soft mess, leaving you with nothing but helplessness and heartache. Please log in to continue the conversation.
