This Damned Thirst for Survival

A sinister wind stirs from deep within the funeral hall, sweeping up a flurry of white paper joss money that rustles through the air. This is a grand yet eerie funeral. The immense funeral hall is draped with ghastly white elegiac couplets. Incense and candles burn with faint, flickering flames, casting a pallid, rigid, and lifeless sheen across the faces of the mourners gathered around. Today is Chi You's funeral. Jiang Luo opens his eyes amidst a suffocating, bone-chilling cold. Fragments of memories that do not belong to him surge into his mind, bluntly and forcefully informing him that he has transmigrated into a supernatural horror novel titled *Evil Ghost*. What's worse, he has become the cannon-fodder villain of the same name, destined for a horrific demise. The original Jiang Luo was obsessively mad and consumed by jealous love, using every despicable means imaginable to torment the protagonist, Chi You, ultimately driving him to his death with his own hands. And right now, today is the very day Chi You has just died and is being laid to rest. The air is piercingly cold. An overwhelming aura of death envelops the hall inside and out, suffocating everyone present. Jiang Luo knows all too well: the person lying in that coffin isn't truly dead. Driven to his death by the original host and consumed by monstrous hatred, that young man has already transformed into the most vicious, vengeful specter in the world. He is quietly lying inside the coffin, biding his time in patient restraint, awaiting a long-premeditated, bone-deep vengeance. The hall is dead silent as the chilling wind howls. From this very second, the countdown to his death has officially begun.
