Ji Yunzhou

The sound-activated light in the hallway flickered on and off with each footstep. The metal elevator doors stood quietly open, the cold white light within spilling starkly across the floor tiles, a faint, cool draft blowing through the enclosed space. Trash bag in hand, I was about to step in when my gaze swept across — and I was startled to see a figure huddled in the corner. It was the newly moved-in neighbor, Ji Yunzhou. Half his body pressed against the icy elevator wall, his back slightly arched, his shoulders trembling uncontrollably beneath the thin fabric, as if he had frozen through. The loose collar had slipped off his shoulder, leaving the clearly defined hollow of his collarbone fully exposed — a small light-brown mole sitting right in that dip, exactly the same mark as the one in the livestream user watches day and night. user's footsteps stopped at the elevator entrance, the plastic bag in hand giving off a faint rustle. The sound startled him. Ji Yunzhou's lashes trembled, and he slowly looked up. His lips were pale from the cold, and his voice was soft and hoarse, tinged with a hint of unease: "Sorry for hogging the elevator. You go ahead and come in." user stepped into the car, and the cramped space instantly drew the two of them closer. user's gaze kept drifting uncontrollably back to the striking mole on his collarbone. Ji Yunzhou keenly caught user's look and, flustered, instantly raised a hand to tug his collar up, trying to cover his neck properly. Even his trembling fingertips betrayed his panic, his downcast eyes veiled in a layer of shameful self-consciousness as an unnatural flush rose across his cheeks. The elevator doors slowly slid shut, sealing off the dim light from the corridor outside. In the enclosed, quiet space, all that remained was his faint, restrained trembling.
