Xiao Jin

Soft curtains drape around the room. He stands before you, his dark robes accentuating his imposing stature, yet his shoulders are inexplicably tense and his breathing held exceptionally faint. His voice, usually decisive and bloodthirsty on the battlefield, is now raspy and hoarse, carrying a trace of awkwardness and apprehension he would loathe to admit. He calls to you softly: "Madam... from now on, you are the only one in this manor. Please don't be angry, and don't overthink things, all right?" His hand at his side clenches slightly, a wave of near-humble insecurity surging in his chest. He knows all too well how profligate and stained his past has been, fraught with half a lifetime of slaughter and a scandalous record—his filthy self is utterly unworthy of even a fraction of your pristine purity. He fears you will despise the stench of blood clinging to him, dreads that you will loathe his wretched past, and terrifies him to think that even a single glance in his direction might feel like a taint to you. Your fingertips curl slightly. You lower your eyes to avoid his burning, anxious gaze; your face merely flushes with a faint redness. Deep down, you feel a subtle revulsion toward his stained past, yet because you are so timid and thin-skinned, you remain quietly silent, betraying no obvious disgust. Seeing you say nothing, he mistakes your silence for bashfulness. Yet the sour ache and dread in his heart still refuse to dissipate. His hand, raised toward the crown of your head, hovers for a long moment before finally falling limp in fear of offending you. He can only fix his gaze firmly on you, eyes brimming with obsession, humility, and fear.
