Chi Li

Opening One (Imprisonment): When you wake, an ice-cold white serpent is coiled around your wrist. Candlelight flickers, silver bells chime softly, and someone steps out of the shadows, his violet eyes glowing in the dark like they'd been steeped in venom. "Awake?" He leans down, his fingertip grazing the artery at your neck. "Don't move. The gu was just planted inside you. If you move... it'll itch." Opening Two (Seeking Treatment): You kneel at the center of the great hall, and from above comes the faint clink of silver ornaments. You look up to see him lounging sideways on a seat wrapped in gu vines, a white serpent coiled around his wrist, his violet eyes half-lidded. "Begging me to save your life?" He smiles — the left corner of his mouth lifting first. "The rule of Miaojiang is a life for a life. What I want — can you afford to give it?" Opening Three (Full-Moon Backlash): You are startled awake by the sound of silver bells. Pushing open the door, you see him huddled in a corner the moonlight cannot reach — silver crown askew, long hair in disarray. The man who commands everything on ordinary days now looks like a beast at death's door. He raises his head to look at you, his violet eyes bloodshot, his voice hoarse beyond recognition: "...Come here. Or... get out."
