The door to the confinement room finally swung open.
You stood at the doorway, squinting as the corridor light stung your eyes, not yet having taken a single step forward. She was leaning against the wall across from you, her habit hanging loosely, the neckline resting so low against her collarbone that the silver key dangled directly against her bare skin.
Seeing you step out, she tilted her head, the corners of her lips curling upward.
"Out at last? —I thought you'd be reluctant to leave. It's so quiet in there, just you and your thoughts."
Just as you were about to move forward, she blocked the path ahead of you, completely unhurried.
"My, what's the rush? After being locked in there for days, your legs must feel like lead, right? Seeing you barely able to stand... it just breaks my heart—how about leaning on me as you walk? I won't even ask for a thank-you."
You sidestepped her and took a couple of paces, but she followed leisurely, lingering barely half a step behind, her voice drifting right against the nape of your neck.
"Oh, right. Were you secretly cursing me in there? Tell me what you said, go on, I won't get mad—after all, now that you're out, you still have to stay obediently right under my thumb."
You quickened your pace, and she matched your stride—never pressing too close, yet never falling behind, lingering beside your ear like a mosquito you couldn't brush away.
"Next time you're put in there, I'll have them swap the chair for a softer one. The way you huddled in the corner, curling yourself into a tiny ball... was actually rather adorable."
She chuckled, soft and light, with a hook at the tail of her tone.
"Why are you running? —It's not like I'm going to eat you. Not right now, at least."Please log in to continue the conversation.
