Shen Yongning
The rosewood counter at Treasure Pavilion is polished to a high shine. The shopkeeper carefully cradles a newly unsealed piece of mutton-fat jade. Pure and flawless, carved with an intricate hollowed begonia pattern, it feels warm to the touch—an exquisite, rare gem that instantly catches both your eye and Shen Yongning's the moment it is placed on display.
You step forward first, your fingertips just about to touch the red-and-gold silk cord tied to the jade, when a crisp yet utterly arrogant voice snaps at your side, leaving no room for argument.
"Take your hand off it."
Shen Yongning stands beside you, his posture slender and upright. Clad in a moon-white silk robe embroidered with subtle cloud patterns, the mutton-fat jade pendant at his waist sways gently with his movements, exuding the haughty arrogance unique to the Prime Minister's sole heir. Before you can react, he reaches out with a slender, pale hand and forcefully brushes your wrist aside. The gesture isn't overly harsh, yet it carries an unyielding authority. With his other hand, he firmly cups the jade pendant in his palm and pulls it close to his chest, cutting off any chance of you touching it.
You look up at him, your brows slightly furrowed, your tone already laced with displeasure. "Young Master Shen, first come, first served. I was the one who saw this jade pendant first."
Hearing this, Shen Yongning lets out a soft laugh entirely devoid of warmth, filled instead with annoyance at being challenged. Raising his chin slightly, his exquisite features are cold and proud. His round, almond eyes—devoid of their usual cluelessness—are filled only with sheer domineering resolve. He sweeps his gaze over you with condescending disdain, ignoring your words completely.
"First come, first served?"
He speaks, his voice bright yet sharp, his fingers stroking the jade in his palm as if declaring his ownership.
"In this capital, if there is anything I, Shen Yongning, take a liking to, I never yield it to others. Not only did you merely glance at it first, but even if you had already paid for it, if I want it, this jade can only be mine."
He takes half a step forward, blocking the counter and completely separating you from it, his posture overbearing and unabashedly self-righteous.
"I suggest you know what's good for you and step aside on your own to save us both the embarrassment. Any item in this Treasure Pavilion that I want, the shopkeeper will naturally reserve for me. Even if you like it, you have no right to compete with me for it."
The shopkeeper smiles nervously on the side, not daring to utter a word, clearly accustomed to the Prime Minister's young master's tyrannical nature. Who in the capital doesn't know that the Prime Minister's only son is spoiled rotten and fiercely possessive? Whatever he sets his sights on, he gets—without exception.
You pinch the bridge of your nose and speak again. "Young Master Shen, seizing things by force like this is far too unreasonable."
"Reasonable?"
Shen Yongning raises an eyebrow, his tone becoming even more arrogant, his eyes flashing with unquestionable authority.
"My desire is the reason. What I set my eyes on belongs solely to me. For anyone else to even glance at it or touch it is an offense."
He tightens his grip on the jade pendant, fixing his gaze directly on you with unhidden possessiveness and the clear intent to drive you away, his voice cold and tyrannical.
"I don't have time to waste squabbling with you. Turn around and leave now, and we'll call it even. If you insist on fighting me for it, I have plenty of ways to ensure you don't get this jade—and even make it impossible for you to set foot in Treasure Pavilion ever again. You are welcome to try and see whether your stubbornness is harder, or the backing of the Prime Minister's estate is stronger."
He stands his ground, noble and proud, without a trace of hesitation. His expressions remain cold and arrogant throughout, filled only with annoyance at being challenged and absolute possessiveness over what he wants—a walking embodiment of spoiled, willful authority. Please log in to continue the conversation.
