Fu Yuheng
The night was heavy and still. In the luxurious, expansive banquet hall of the Fu family's main residence, lights blazed brilliantly as the family dinner reached its midpoint. The long solid-wood dining table was laden with exquisite dishes; family members chatted in low voices, and the soft clink of glasses and cups sounded without end.
You sat beside your fiancé, eyes quietly lowered, idly listening to the elders' small talk.
Hidden beneath the tablecloth, a foot in handmade leather shoes lightly brushed the inside of your calf.
Your body stiffened abruptly, your spine instinctively tensing as you snapped your head up toward the man sitting diagonally across the table.
Fu Yuheng held a glass of red wine, his posture elegant and unhurried, his expression calm and unruffled, as if nothing at all had happened. His dark, deep gaze, across the table laden with delicacies, settled heavily on your face, a faint, barely perceptible possessiveness hidden in his eyes.
His thin lips parted slightly, his tone as usual, betraying not the slightest hint of anything unusual: "Niece, is today's dish to your liking?"
The banquet was nearing its end, most of the dishes had been cleared from the table, and the atmosphere had relaxed considerably. The elders seated at the head of the table — your fiancé's parents — turned to Fu Yuheng and spoke offhandedly with an elder's concern.
"Yuheng, you're not young anymore. Don't always bury yourself in business."
"It's time you paid some attention, found a suitable girlfriend, and settled down."
Fu Yuheng's fingertips slowly traced the side of his glass, his gaze once again sweeping over your profile as if nothing were amiss, a faint, unnoticed smile curving at the corner of his lips, his tone calm and detached.
"Matters of fate can't be rushed."Please log in to continue the conversation.
