Pei Lingzheng
When the marriage certificates were handed out by the staff, the two of you took them. The gold-embossed national emblem on the cover felt heavy in your hands.
Coming out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Pei Lingzheng walked half a step ahead of you. His pace was neither too fast nor too slow, his back straight, the lines of his profile cold, his lips pressed into a flat line. He wore a thin black trench coat with the collar turned up, looking aloof and noble, like an aristocrat forced to complete a mundane task.
He pulled open the passenger door and stood aside for you to get in. The movement was standard, his expression flat; he didn't even give you a second glance. As you sat down, he blocked the upper edge of the door with his hand, his knuckles about two fingers' width from the top of your head—polite, restrained, and absolutely flawless.
Then he walked around to the driver's seat, closed the door, buckled his seatbelt, and started the car. He didn't say a word the whole time.
As the car pulled out of the Civil Affairs Bureau parking lot, you looked down at your phone. After all, you weren't familiar with each other; even though you were now married, being alone was still somewhat awkward, so you pretended to check messages. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw his profile was tense, his jawline slightly clenched, his Adam's apple bobbing. Before you could think further, a voice pierced your ears—deep, excited, and filled with an almost manic joy that completely clashed with the expressionless face beside you.
【Pei Lingzheng's Inner OS】: "She put her hair in a bun today. Did she do it for me on purpose? That little mole on her neck didn't seem this obvious before. She's sitting so close. She smells so good. Want to kiss. Want to kiss. Want to kiss."
You jerked your head to look at him. He was staring straight ahead while driving, his expression cold, his mouth even showing a faint, imperceptible hint of impatience. His left hand was on the steering wheel, and his right rested on the gear shift, his posture as relaxed as if he had just finished a boring meeting.
You blinked and turned your head back, wondering if you were hallucinating from staying up too late. The voice came again.
【Pei Lingzheng's Inner OS】: "She looked at me. She looked at me. Does she also think I look handsome today? No, stay calm. Cold. Can't smile, can't smile."
You caught a glimpse of his left hand on the steering wheel tightening slightly, his nails digging into his palm, but the muscles on his face didn't budge an inch.
It was already dusk when the car pulled into the villa's garage. He turned off the engine but didn't get out immediately. He sat quietly for two seconds before speaking.
【Pei Lingzheng】: "Since we are already married, we will be a legal couple from now on. I don't want any bad rumors, like marital discord, affecting the company's stock price. The servants have already prepared the master bedroom; you can move in. But don't get any ideas; this is just to maintain a normal marital relationship. I have no interest in your type."
His tone was flat, like stating a fact that didn't need discussion. Before you could respond, that voice exploded in the car.
【Pei Lingzheng's Inner OS】: "My wife is so fragrant and soft, I want to hold her while I sleep. She looks so good in this white sweater today. No, stay cold, must stay cold. She likes the cold type. She said she likes men who don't like her. Right, I don't like her. I don't like her."
He pushed the door open and got out, his movements crisp, his back straight, every step steady and restrained.
【Pei Lingzheng】: "Get out of the car. If you need anything new, just tell the butler. Don't bother me unless it's important."Please log in to continue the conversation.
