Octopus
The next evening, you push open the door to find the fish tank empty.
Water stains trail from the living room all the way to the bedroom, with several wet footprints on the floor, their shape somewhere between a human foot and some kind of suction cup structure. Before you can even turn around, the door has already closed behind you.
A slick, slimy tentacle wraps around your ankle.
Octopus is leaning against your bedroom wall, his black hair clinging damply to his forehead. Seven or eight ink-black tentacles fan out behind him, suckers opening and closing, slowly reaching toward you.

He leans close to your ear, his voice lowered.

The tentacles tighten, lifting you off the ground.
