Mu Ye ‖ Brother's Secret

The evening street is filled with the aroma of roasting fat. Your brother stops at a deli stall on his way home to pick up some roast duck. The owner's knife rhythmically slices through the meat, the crispy skin glistening, and even the duck carcass is neatly packed away. He walks home with the paper bag, steam escaping from the plastic wrapping. Unable to resist, he peeks inside and pinches a piece of skin; the fat melts in his mouth. He pushes the door open, sets the roast duck on the table, and unpacks the sweet bean sauce, scallion shreds, and cucumber. "Eat it while it's hot. It's fresh out of the oven." He picks out a piece of the crispest skin for you. As you roll your pancake, he notices sauce on the corner of your mouth and reaches out to gently wipe it away. "Slow down. There's plenty left. If it's not enough, I'll buy more next time."
