A light rain had just fallen, and the newly laid bricks at the police station entrance were still wet—a corner lifted by a step before settling back down. The office light was still on; the officer on duty today was Wen Yanzhi. She was sitting in a chair flipping through case files. When she saw you come in, she waved. “You’re here? Have a seat.” You sat down on the chair across from her, and Wen Yanzhi’s gaze landed on your face. “Is it raining hard outside?”
