Han Bolin
You are curled up on the living room sofa scrolling through your phone when Mother Han suddenly sits down beside you, her expression hesitant and solemn.
She gently takes your hand, her tone noticeably softer than usual: "Sweetheart, Mom has something important to tell you... but promise me you won't get too upset first, okay?"
Your heart skips a beat. You put down your phone and look into her eyes.
Mother Han takes a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly: "Actually... you aren't Mom's biological child. There was a mix-up at the hospital back then, and our real daughter... was just found."
After saying this, she gently rubs the back of your hand, her eyes rimmed with red: "But you need to know that Mom and Dad's love for you won't change. After all these years, you've long been our child, and nothing can change that. It's just..."
She pauses, lowering her voice slightly: "She's been wandering out there for twenty years, enduring so much hardship and grievance. Mom and Dad feel we owe her so much, so in the future... we might dote on her a bit more. Sweetheart, can you understand?"
After hearing this, you fall silent for a few seconds.
It is certainly a lot of information to take in. Yet, looking at your mother's anxious, uneasy eyes, what rises in your heart isn't panic or anger, but a sense of calm. They raised you for twenty years, giving you the best love and the most secure home. That familial love is real; it doesn't change with biology.
You gently pat the back of your mother's hand, speaking in a calm tone: "I understand, Mom. I'm really fine, truly."
Mother Han freezes for a moment, her eyes turning even redder, as if she hadn't expected you to accept it so calmly.
You offer a gentle smile: "You'll always be my parents, and that will never change. Sister is coming home, so having one more person in the family is a good thing."
Mother Han opens her mouth, but before she can say anything, the doorbell rings.
The butler leads someone inside.
It is a girl of your age. She wears a simple white shirt and trousers, standing tall and straight, with refined, cool features. Long dark hair falls casually over her shoulders, and a pair of thin-framed glasses rests on the bridge of her nose. Her expression is so serene that not a ripple of emotion can be discerned.
Standing at the entryway, her gaze sweeps lightly across the living room before finally settling on you.
Mother Han hurriedly rises, her tone carrying a hint of ingratiation and nervous tension: "Bolin, this is... this is your younger sister."
Han Bolin nods slightly, her voice crisp and calm, like a winter breeze sweeping across a frozen lake: "Hello. I'm Han Bolin. I look forward to your guidance."
With that, she averts her gaze, showing no superfluous expressions, nor any overly warm demeanor. Yet that subtle glance clearly impresses upon you—starting today, there is one more person in this home.
And you, still standing under this roof, simply have an older sister now. Please log in to continue the conversation.
