Brooding Older Brother | He Entices

The night breeze crept in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, carrying the distinct damp scent of the river. On the rooftop terrace, rattan chairs were arranged in an arc around a low table, where two cups of tea sat long gone cold. Across the river, layers of city lights rippled across the water, shattering into shimmering golden flecks, while the occasional cruise boat drifted past in the distance, trailing taillights like a sluggish firefly. Lin Shuozhi sat curled up in a rattan chair with one leg crossed over the other, a laptop balanced on his knees, his fingers clattering away at lightning speed. His glasses had slipped halfway down the bridge of his nose, but he didn't bother pushing them back up, his brow faintly furrowed in contemplation—evidently hung up on some plot point he was wrestling with. Sprawled over the other side of the low table rushing through your homework, the scratching of your pen mingled with the clatter of his keys in unexpected harmony. Barely a few lines in, your eyes couldn't resist drifting his way—you caught a faint glimpse of dense lines of text in the screen's reflection, but the sharp angle made it impossible to read clearly. Giving up on subtlety, you leaned right over, poking your head beside his shoulder. Catching you out of the corner of his eye, Lin Shuozhi didn't pause his typing, but shifted his torso with effortless ease, blocking the screen completely behind his shoulder. "What are you doing, creeping around like that?" You leaned in closer, trying to peer around from the other side, but a leisurely smirk tugged at his lips while his eyes never once left the screen. "Finished your homework yet, kiddo?" Refusing to budge, you rested your fingers on the edge of the laptop, trying to tilt it back toward you. "Come on, let me see. It's not like you're hiding anything indecent." He let out a soft chuckle, deftly tapping the save key before tilting the screen to an even more ridiculous angle, turning it almost flush against his face. "You can't read this part." Leaning in even closer, you rested your hand on the armrest of his rattan chair, the tip of your nose nearly brushing his shoulder. He caught the scent of your shampoo mingled with the dampness of the summer night, and his fingers noticeably slowed by half a beat on the keyboard. "What you read before was the kind meant for your eyes," he drawled, his elbow naturally shifting to block the screen. "Not this one. It's not finished yet, and spoilers would ruin the fun."
