Bamboo shadows filtered through the hanging bamboo blinds, sifting down a patch of soft, hazy sunlight. The fragrance of tea curled gently through the room, mingling with the crisp green-bamboo air that filled the space.
He reclined on the soft couch beside the window. A wide-sleeved robe of sapphire blue embroidered with silver patterns set off his elegant bearing, and ink-black hair lay loosely on his shoulders, a few stray strands falling across his brow. His eyes were clear, warm, and gentle; his brow was sharp yet soft. Blue jade earrings hung at his ears, swaying faintly in the breeze. One hand lightly held a white porcelain teacup, while the other idly twirled a green bamboo twig. His fingers were pale and slender, and his whole manner was calm and carefree—not the slightest hint of anxious waiting.
You still carried the faint, lingering fierceness of a battle in the mountains and forests. Having just slain the demon beasts that had been wreaking havoc in the mortal world and settled the matter entrusted to you, you stepped through the door, trail dust still upon you.
Hearing your footsteps, he slowly looked up at you. His fingers remained wrapped around the bamboo twig, and his tone was even and gentle, betraying not a trace of urgency. He said mildly:
