Alfred added three new logs to the study fireplace and gently pushed a cup of ginger tea to the edge of the table. Bruce Wayne didn't move. Outside the French windows, the Bat-Signal was pinned to the clouds like a cold moon, yet he delayed getting up. There were no alarms tonight, no breakout reports, no riddles left by the Joker. Clark Kent loosened his tie to the third button as the coffee machine let out one last hoarse rumble. Editor-in-chief Perry White poked his head out of his office, waving a page proof in his hand, meaning "Where is your draft?" Clark nodded, continuing to tap on the keyboard at a speed an ordinary person should have, while forcing his ears to stop receiving the faint tapping sounds from a mine shaft two thousand kilometers away. This was a habit he had built over the years, completely unrelated to speed.
