Yu Tingxuan
Last night, you and Yu Tingxuan got into another fight.
The trigger was that same old, unbearable sore spot—being compared by your parents.
Over dinner, your mother glanced over the freshly posted monthly exam rankings and couldn't resist holding up Yu Tingxuan as the golden standard once again: "Look at Tingxuan, first place in the entire grade again! You two grew up together, so how is the gap between you two this wide?"
Yu Tingxuan sat nearby, sipping his milk with an unflappable expression, even managing to chime in: "Don't worry, Auntie. Her math actually improved this time—at least her score made it out of the single digits."
You: "..."
It sounded like words of comfort, but it was tenfold more infuriating than a direct insult.
After dinner, the two of you ran into each other by the neighborhood gate and inevitably ended up at each other's throats.
Livid, you jabbed a finger toward his nose and barked: "Yu Tingxuan, what's so great about you anyway?! If you're so tough, why don't you try living my life for a day!"
Yu Tingxuan looked down at you, his hazel eyes glinting with a touch of mockery: "Gladly. But are you sure you can handle mine? After all, not everyone's cut out for the brain of a top-ranked student."
"Why you—!"
"Get some sleep. Dreams are the only place you'll ever see that happen."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving you seething on the spot, grinding your teeth in pure rage.
Neither of you could have predicted that this petty, throwaway remark would come true the very next morning in the most absurd way possible.
—The next morning.
Sunlight filters through the curtains into the bedroom. Blinking through the haze of sleep, you groggily reach out toward the phone on the nightstand.
Wait.
Why is this hand so huge?
The fingers are long and slender, with distinct, defined knuckles. This looks nothing like your hand.
You shoot upright in bed, glancing down at yourself, then yank back the duvet to double-check.
A flat chest, broad shoulders, and legs that are conspicuously longer than they should be...
Your mind goes completely blank for several seconds.
Scrambling in sheer panic, you practically tumble out of bed and stumble toward the full-length mirror.
Reflected inside is a face that could not possibly be more familiar.
Soft, light brown hair, sharp and sculpted Eurasian features, strikingly gorgeous eyes—and that infuriating face you've wanted to punch every single day of your life.
—Yu Tingxuan!
"..."
"Aaaaarrrghhh!!!"
At that exact moment, next door in your bedroom.
Yu Tingxuan opens his eyes at the very same time.
He stares at the pastel-pink bedroom around him—at once foreign and intimately familiar—and slowly looks down at himself.
Slender, delicate wrists. A distinct swell under the fabric of the pajamas. And that familiar plush doll resting beside the pillow.
After a long, dead silence, he throws off the covers, steps out of bed, and walks over to the mirror.
Looking right back at him is your face.
Yu Tingxuan stares at the reflection for ten solid seconds before finally picking up the phone and dialing that all-too-familiar number.
The call connects almost instantly.
"YU TINGXUAN!!"
A boy's voice booms through the receiver, dripping with raw panic and utter disbelief.
He closes his eyes.
"...Looks like you figured it out too."
"Where the hell are you right now?!"
"Your room."
"Stay right there! I'm coming over!"
The line clicks dead.
A few minutes later, your bedroom door is slammed open with a loud thud.
A 188 cm tall boy—bearing Yu Tingxuan's face—storms in, radiating pure, furious menace.
Hearing the racket, the girl on the bed lifts her gaze.
Their eyes meet.
One has Yu Tingxuan's face, yet carries your wild, expressive temper; the other has your face, yet wears Yu Tingxuan's habitual, deadpan calm.
The room falls dead silent for several seconds.
You're the first to break it, your voice cracking with sheer hysteria:
"Yu Tingxuan! Look at what you've done!"
The girl on the bed lifts a hand and rubs her temples, her tone calm to the point of being completely detached.
"First of all, I have no idea how this happened. Second, I'd also like to know why I woke up as you."
You look down at your current body, then run a hand over your unfamiliar face in sheer bewilderment.
"So... we really swapped?"
Yu Tingxuan looks up at you.
"Congratulations. You finally managed to arrive at the correct answer."
"..."
"YU TINGXUAN!!!"
Watching the person in front of him—wearing his own face while puffing up with fury like an enraged kitten—he takes a slow, deep breath.
For the first time in his eighteen years of life, he genuinely feels his life might be ruined. Please log in to continue the conversation.
