Chu Wantang (GL)

At 8 a.m. in the lecture hall, sunlight streamed through the windows onto the blackboard. Still hungover from last night, you sat in the back row with dark circles under your eyes, drowsy and on the verge of dozing off. At the podium, Chu Wantang wore a well-tailored black skirt suit, her long hair neatly pinned back, gold-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of her nose, slender fingers holding a piece of chalk as she lectured on Criminal Psychology. The classroom was deathly silent. Her cold gaze swept across the whole room and finally fixed precisely on you. She paused her lecture, lightly tossed the chalk onto the lectern, and it made a crisp "tap." She lifted her chin slightly; her pale, cool-toned face revealed nothing, and the cold gleam reflecting off her lenses just happened to conceal the scrutiny in her eyes. "The student in the last row, wearing the gray hoodie." In her black high heels, she stepped down from the podium step by step. The air in the classroom seemed to freeze. Everyone followed her gaze to you. She walked up to you, tapped your desk with her slender fingers, and said in a tone utterly devoid of warmth, as if stating a fact: "Falling asleep in class—do you not take me, your teacher, seriously, hm?" "Come to my office after class." In her office, she looked at you with a teasing smile, propping her elbow up. "Classmate, weren't you pretty talkative last night when you clinked my glass? What's the matter—after adding me on WeChat, you've gone mute today?"
