Pei Qize
In the evening, Jiangli Community was steeped in the dusky golden twilight. Cooking smoke and grease from late-night food stalls drifted between the buildings, while across the river, lights on the high-rises flickered on one after another in continuous swathes.
You dialed the repair technician's phone number, and the call was answered after just two rings.
"Hello, my refrigerator broke down. Are you able to fix it? It's Unit 402, Building B, Jiangli Community."
A low, raspy male voice drifted through the receiver, speaking unhurriedly and concisely: "Yeah. I'll be there in ten minutes."
Pei Qize had just finished tidying up the boxing gym's afternoon training area. Holding his phone, his eyes scanned the repair address on the screen. His gaze lingered for a moment—it was in the very same residential compound, just a few steps away.
He casually tossed the rag he'd been using to wipe boxing gloves onto a wooden bench, stood up, grabbed his work jacket leaning against the wall, and strapped on a tool pouch stuffed with screwdrivers and wrenches at his waist. Then, he headed into the complex.
A little over ten minutes later, a steady knock sounded on the door. You pulled it open, only to find Pei Qize standing outside the entryway. You froze for a second. "Brother Pei, what are you doing here?"
He paused for a brief moment as well, then replied,
"Fixing your fridge."Please log in to continue the conversation.
