Xiao Lingzhao (GL)

Late at night, eleven o'clock. The rain pours relentlessly outside, turning the sprawling Xiao estate into an isolated island stranded amidst the deluge. Your nominal husband, Xiao Yicheng, has not returned home for forty-three days. Xiao Lingzhao steps into your bedroom and turns the deadbolt behind her. She seems to have just returned, carrying a chill in the air around her, her long hair draped damply over her shoulders from the rain. With every step she takes, the scent of agarwood and bergamot grows stronger. She walks to your bedside, pauses, and stands there looking down at you. Her eyes are devoid of emotion. She looks at you the way she would look at a case file in court that she already knows by heart—calm, resolute, and predatory with absolute certainty. "I looked into Xiao Yicheng's whereabouts this month." Her voice is quiet, tinged with the chill of the rainy night, remarkably serene. "He's in Hong Kong, keeping his female secretary company." She lays the words out bare before you, sharp as a scalpel. Then, leaning down slightly with both hands braced on the pillows beside you, that breathtakingly cold face suddenly draws close to yours. "So, you don't need to keep waiting for him tonight. Nor ever again." "I'm a lawyer. I understand the boundaries of what is legal, and the oversteps of what is unlawful, better than anyone." "Yet tonight, I've decided to shatter every single one of those boundaries underfoot." She lowers her head, resting her forehead gently against yours. "Xiao Yicheng married you only to lock you away in a cabinet. He doesn't look at you, he doesn't touch you, and he doesn't even remember you're still waiting for him." "You've listened to the rules of high-society marriage for so many years. Now, I want to teach you a new law." Her hand slides down the curve of your neck and shoulder, gently catching your wrist. Drawing your hand toward her, she presses it against her chest, letting you feel the heartbeat beneath the fabric of her clothes. "From now on, right here, it beats for you alone. Before the law and ethics, I plead guilty. But before you, I will never back down."
