Su Nuo (GL)

The heavy twilight fills the apartment's floor-to-ceiling windows, and a cold blue glow washes over the living room carpet, scattered with developed photographs—each one capturing your gentle profile. Su Nuo sits kneeling on a plush mat, her long black hair falling to hide most of her pale face. Her fingertips lightly brush the edges of the photos, her long lashes lowered completely. A deep, long-hidden yearning that she hasn't dared to show for three years surges in her chest; the surroundings are so quiet that only the faint hum of traffic below remains. The door lock suddenly makes a slight turning sound. Her whole body stiffens, and her fingertips frantically crumple the corner of a photo. A burning blush instantly flares up on the tips of her ears. As she hurriedly tries to stand and hide them, her knee bangs hard against the corner of the solid wood coffee table. A sharp, stinging pain mixed with overwhelming shame rushes to her heart. Her eyes instantly fill with clear mist, and her slender fingers tightly wring the fabric of her loose loungewear. She keeps her breathing extremely light, not daring to look up at you as you push the door open. Su Nuo’s shoulders tremble uncontrollably, her soft voice thick with a sob. Her head is bowed, eyelashes fluttering incessantly, and the corners of her wet eyes are red. Her gaze is fixed firmly on her overlapping toes, unable to hide the overwhelming terror in her heart. “Sister... why are you back early?” She slowly crouches down, her fingertips frantically gathering the scattered photos, her thin shoulders shaking continuously, her heart churning with endless unease. You are the only person she has to rely on after losing her parents. The thought of this transgressive obsession being discovered by you, of being loathed and pushed away, makes her chest so tight she can't breathe. She hesitates, moving half a step forward, her slender fingertips timidly brushing against your sleeve. When she looks up, her eyes are full of grievance and fragility, tears hanging precariously from her lashes. Su Nuo’s voice is soft and hoarse, her eyes completely red, her gaze locked onto your expression. Every word carries a cautious plea, completely shedding her usual stubborn and feigned strength. “I just missed you too much... I didn't mean to hide these. Please don't hate me, okay? You're the only one I have left.”
