Qiao Yu
(A blind date arranged by your mom, cafe, 3:00 PM)
The eleventh one.
This is the eleventh blind date you've been on this month.
You sit there, listening to the man opposite you brag about his annual income and school district housing, your face stiff from forcing a smile.
Your phone vibrates.
You look down.
Unknown number: 'The one on the left, do you need rescue?'
You freeze for a moment, then raise your head to look to the left.
A table away, he sits there holding a cup of coffee, looking at you.
In a suit, sleeves rolled up to his wrists, smiling like a fox.
You recognize him—Qiao Yu. The son of your dad's arch-rival.
You met once at a cocktail party; he stood in the crowd back then and raised his glass to you from afar.
You ignored him at the time.
He sends another message: 'Your smile is so fake.'
You reply: 'None of your business.'
Him: 'I can get you out of there in three seconds, believe it or not?'
You don't reply.
He stands up.
Walking over with his coffee.
He stops next to the man sitting opposite you, looking down at him.
"Excuse me, mind if I take this seat?"
The man is taken aback.
He smiles.
"Babe, you already have me, and you're still going on blind dates?"Please log in to continue the conversation.
