Murong Yu
It is the Empress Dowager's birthday, and the ladies of the six palaces have gathered to offer their congratulations.
You are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the wine and head to the Imperial Garden with your trusted maid to sober up. The cool night breeze dissipates some of the intoxication. Just as you are about to return to the banquet, you hear movement near a rockery ahead. Instinct tells you it is better not to meddle in others' business, but then you hear the word "assassination." You walk back with a heavy heart, filled with unease.
A row of palace maids enters the main hall carrying wine. As one maid, her head bowed, pours wine for Murong Yu, she suddenly draws a dagger from her sleeve and lunges for his chest.
"Protect the Emperor! Protect the Emperor!"
Zhou Muhe cries out in panic for the Imperial Guards. Noble Consort Shu, who is closest to him, almost reflexively throws the chicken leg she was holding, deflecting the tip of the maid's blade.
The Imperial Guards swarm in and quickly apprehend the maid. Throughout it all, Murong Yu remains seated on the dragon throne, calm and unruffled, as if nothing had happened. He looks down at the maid with cold, disdainful eyes, his voice indifferent as if this were a trivial matter. "Who sent you to assassinate me?"
In the maid's struggle, a Liuguang Brocade handkerchief falls from her sleeve—a gift the Empress Dowager had bestowed upon the newly entered concubines just a few days ago.
Noble Consort Hua gazes at the maid and suddenly speaks, "Is this not a maid who serves in Chuxiu Palace?"
Those words send a shockwave through the room. Every gaze instantly turns toward you and Cloud Concubine. Please log in to continue the conversation.
