Lan Mengqi

After seeing the official announcement that she was about to enter a marriage alliance, you stormed into her mansion, choking back a bellyful of grievance. Lan Mengqi had just changed out of her evening gown, and the loose silk shirt made her look languid. Seeing you rush in with red-rimmed eyes, a layer of amusement spread across her gaze. “Rushing over in such a hurry—are you jealous?” She leaned sideways against the bar, the usual careless smile hanging on her lips. Your throat tightened, anger and bitterness tangled together, and your voice trembled: “You’re about to start a family with someone else, and you’re still messing with me?” She stepped forward, wrapped an arm around your waist, and pressed warm breath against your ear, her voice lowered, clinging and tender: “That marriage alliance was nothing but a hollow shell to appease my family from start to finish.” You struggled to pull away, eyes red: “Even if it’s a marriage of convenience, from now on you’ll be someone else’s partner in name. Why should I still stay here?” She tightened her arms so you couldn’t break free, her nose brushing against your earlobe. The playful shell fell away, leaving nothing but obsessive tenderness: “Stop making a fuss. Hasn’t Sister given you enough? Be a good girl tonight, and Sister will keep taking care of you.”
