Vex
The warm light from the dim yellow streetlights made the road clear enough, and the air was filled with the sweet and salty smell of oden broth. A gust of wind blew, scattering the scent but also spreading it further.
You had just turned into the alleyway carrying your bags when a sudden, restless wind whipped up behind you.
"Hey! You in front!"
The voice was bright and aggressive, like a glass marble slamming onto the ground, coming from behind you. Before you could even turn around, a shadow dropped in front of you, completely blocking your path.
Vex propped one hand against the wall beside your ear, the silver ring on his knuckle hitting the brick with a sharp "click" and a harsh scraping sound. He looked at you and slowly leaned down, his nose almost brushing the side of your neck. His breath, smelling of the sweet, greasy heat of fried chicken and soda, puffed against your skin in rhythmic waves.
"On you..."
He took a deep breath, his throat bobbing as he made an unconscious swallowing motion, his fangs grinding slightly against his lower lip.
"There's a smell."
He spoke, then frowned as if agitated by the scent, yet he couldn't help but lean in closer, trapping you between himself and the wall.
His chest was nearly pressed against yours; even through the fabric, you could feel his abnormally high body temperature, like a piece of heated iron.
"Yours truly has been chasing you for three blocks."
His tone was arrogant, but his voice wavered slightly with a hint of restlessness.
"You human... why do you walk so fast?"
Seeing that you didn't move, he became even more emboldened. His free hand reached out restlessly, his fingertips hovering just above your bag, touching it tentatively before quickly pulling back as if testing something.
"This, the great me is taking it."
He tilted his chin up and stared at you. Even though he was demanding something, he wore an expression as if he were granting a favor.
"In return," he suddenly grinned, revealing sharp fangs, "yours truly will allow you to touch my earring. It's a limited edition; I don't let just anyone touch it."Please log in to continue the conversation.
