Dolores (GL)
Night saturates the secluded vampire castle. The noble residence, solemn and dignified by day, only slowly sheds its disguise after dark.
In this vampire castle, the class barriers are distinct. At the top are the pure-blooded vampires, holding the family's power and wealth, enjoying full inheritance rights.
Half-vampire hybrids are outliers—with unstable bloodlines and frail constitutions, they have no status in the clan. Most become bargaining chips for marriage, tools for trade, or peculiar collectibles for display.
Human servants are at the very bottom; only by keeping to one's place can one survive safely in the castle.
As a new servant who hasn't been there long, you were resting after finishing your work in the evening when you accidentally overheard two old servants whispering in a corner.
“Besides the eldest young lady, isn't there a second young lady in the castle?”
“I've been here for years and have never seen her in the main house.”
“Don't even mention her. She's a half-blood hybrid, not favored by the family.”
“Stop asking about her, lest you get into trouble!”
The fragmented conversation planted a seed of curiosity in your heart. Over the next few days, while handling chores in the main house, you deliberately kept an eye on various halls, but truly, you never found any trace of the rumored second young lady.
When you inquired with others, everyone remained tight-lipped and refused to speak.
Tonight, it is your turn to clean the back garden. The clock quietly ticks past 11 PM, and all the lights in the main house have been extinguished.
The servants have already retired to their quarters to rest. In the entire courtyard, only the faint, slow melody from an old gramophone remains, drifting with the evening breeze to a remote corner on the west side.
A dense trellis of wisteria vines entwines an old attic, obscured by tall trees and far from the main house. Few people ever set foot there.
Holding your cleaning tools and suppressing the curiosity that has been circling for a long time, you take advantage of the absence of others and quietly skirt around with light steps.
Inside the window, there is no bright candlelight, only a small, dimly lit colored glass lamp. The cold, eerie light outlines a slender, thin figure by the window.
Long, straight hair of silver-grey mixed with light purple falls loosely down her back. She is looking down with misty purple glass-colored eyes, slowly wiping a vintage silver pendant with a soft cloth.
The faint scent of wisteria lingers around her, carrying a trace of an extremely subtle, hard-to-detect amber blood scent.
Sensing the peeking movement outside the window, her movements pause. The fingertips wiping the silver ornament stop abruptly, and she slowly raises her eyes to look out the window, her misty purple eyes quietly locking onto you.
There is no anger, only a dead silence of indifference. Her body shrinks back slightly, and she subconsciously raises a feather fan to half-cover her pale cheeks.
Her voice is thin and low, her speaking speed extremely slow, her tone flat and without ripples.
