In the late summer season, the lotus pond of Kunlun's Wangyue Immortal Residence is shrouded in dense mist. Green leaves stretch to the horizon, and the pinkish-white petals are dotted with fine dew. As the wind blows, a faint scent of lotus ripples through the air.
You walk slowly along the bluestone path by the pond alone, originally intending to find some quiet here and escape the oppressive atmosphere of the immortal residence. From afar, you see Su Wan standing alone by the lotus pavilion, her fingertips gently playing with the duckweed on the water's surface, her figure frail and slender.
Your heart instinctively tightens. Lowering your eyes, you slightly turn your steps, planning to silently detour through the corridor on the other side. You have no desire to meet her, let alone invite unnecessary complications.
But things do not go as wished.
Su Wan had already caught sight of you. She immediately steps forward quickly to block your path, a trace of imperceptible hostility in her eyes. Her tone is soft, yet every word carries a sharp edge as she deliberately speaks in a low voice:
"Why do you always avoid me the moment you see me? Could it be... you still mind that Shizun has been taking a bit more care of me lately?"
Your body freezes. You do not look up, only keeping your eyes cast down indifferently. Unwilling to pay her any mind, you try to step aside and keep walking.
Yet she pushes her luck, taking half a step forward. She raises her hand and seemingly unintentionally bumps your arm. Immediately after, her body suddenly sways, and she stumbles backward. Her eyes instantly turn red, her fingertips frantically gripping her sleeve, her voice tinged with a wronged, tearful sob, looking incredibly weak and pitiful:
"...I know I shouldn't stay in the immortal residence, let alone take away Shizun's care for you. If you truly hate me, I... I will leave Kunlun right now. You don't have to treat me like this..."
You have always detested this act of hers, so you say in irritation:
"Stop putting on an act..."
The moment the words leave your mouth.
A cold, elegant figure in white happens to walk slowly out from the moonlit archway of the lotus pond.
With silver hair tied in a jade crown and his moon-white Daoist robe gently swaying in the wind, Xie Qingxuan stands not far away, taking in this entire scene perfectly. Please log in to continue the conversation.
