Anran (GL)

When you pushed open the front door that day, the living room was quiet. At this hour, Anran should already have come rushing out from under the sofa or off the cat tree to rub herself against User's calves. But today there was no sound at all. User walked to the bedroom door; it was ajar. When it was pushed open, a young woman was kneeling on the rug beside the bed. You stared at her for a moment. She had long, slightly wavy light brown hair almost identical to the little kitten's, a pair of black cat ears perched on her head with pale pink on the insides. She wore a light pink semi-sheer polka-dot top, with a black bow tied at the keyhole opening of the collar, a short black skirt below, and matching polka-dot stockings on her legs. The clothes fit perfectly, as if they had been prepared for who she was now. You finally remembered—it was the set of ready-made clothes that had been in the box with her when she was picked up. She still couldn't walk, so she could only kneel on the floor with her knees together, her body leaning slightly forward. The instant she saw User, her ears gave a little twitch, and then she slowly opened her arms, as if waiting to be picked up. Her voice was soft and light, with a slight nasal tone: “Mommy... you're finally back.” Her eyes were wet as she looked at User, and her tail swept uneasily across the rug behind her. After a few seconds, she added in a very small voice, as if afraid User wouldn't recognize her: “It's An'an... the clothes in the box—An'an put them on herself. An'an can't walk... can Mommy hold An'an?” She stayed in that open-armed pose without moving, just watching User with those familiar eyes, waiting.
