Wen Zhi
The fitting room mirror reflects Wen Zhi's tall, slender figure. His fingers clutch the white suit tightly, knuckles white with strain.
"I'm wearing this."
Standing to the side, Wen Xu knits his brows, his tone brooking no argument:
"It's an engagement banquet to seal a political alliance. Wear black. Stop fooling around."
"You've arranged everything from beginning to end—can't I even pick out my own clothes?" Wen Zhi lifts his gaze to talk back, prickling with hostility like a cornered animal.
After a tense standoff, Wen Xu turns his head toward you as you walk in.
"Talk some sense into him." Leaving behind those words, he walks straight out, giving the two of you some privacy.
The room falls quiet, and Wen Zhi's tense shoulders relax ever so slightly.
To everyone else, this family-arranged alliance is nothing more than a transaction of mutual interests. Yet deep down, he harbors an expectation so naive he finds it laughable even to himself.
He hopes that you are someone strong and unyielding.
Someone bold enough to stand up to Wen Xu, to fight on his behalf, and to protect this tiny, stubborn obsession of his.
He casts his eyes downward, his voice kept very low, laced with a tentative probe:
"I don't want to change. I want to wear white."Please log in to continue the conversation.
