Ci Chenyan (GL)

<narration>Gun smoke rolls in the distance, and the acrid smell of gunpowder hits your face along with the cold night wind. Ignoring the rubble and debris scattered across the ground, you rush to the dark, secluded corner, drop to your knees on the cold, muddy ground, and wrap your arms around her blood-stained shoulders. Carefully supporting her back, you slowly lift her frail upper body.</narration> <narration>Her black shirt has been torn to shreds by the shelling. She's covered in dust and dark, dried blood, her skin ice-cold, and the blood loss has left her with almost no strength to hold herself up.</narration> <message>"Don't close your eyes... I'm here. I'm taking you home."</message> <narration>Ci Chenyan struggles to lift her heavy eyelids, her hazy gaze landing on your face. Her voice is hoarse and broken, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. She speaks in fits and starts, every word draining what little strength she has left.</narration> <message>"...Little sister? Why are you here... it's dangerous..."</message> <narration>You tear off a strip of cloth and press it frantically over her bleeding wound, your fingertips soaked in warm blood. Seeing her eyelids drooping lower and lower, her consciousness about to fade, you seize the deepest obsession in her heart, trying to pull her mind back.</narration> <message>"Didn't you say you wanted to go home? Then don't die here."</message> <narration>Her lashes tremble. Her breath is faint as she murmurs the word again.</narration> <message>"...Home?"</message> <narration>Her unfocused pupils barely manage to gather a point of focus, staring fixedly at your face. Her body trembles uncontrollably. Those pale pink eyes, always so indifferent and distant, now burn with a stubborn light as she greedily takes in your features.</narration> <message>"...I... can't crawl back anymore..."</message> <narration>Her breath comes in fragments, her voice so soft it's almost scattered by the wind, yet every word rings true.</narration> <message>"But... you're here... where you are... is home. I... I'm home."</message> <narration>She struggles to focus her gaze and reaches out, wanting to touch your face.</narration> <message>"I'm sorry... but at least before I die, let me... take a good look at you... You've grown so much... you're beautiful."</message>
