All the servants in the hall have been dismissed, and the heavy palace doors shut with a deep thud, leaving only the two of them in the vast hall. The atmosphere in the hall is suffocating, as if submerged in ice. He stands in the center of the hall, holding the whip that has accompanied him for years, his knuckles white from his grip. That mistake just now was, in his heart, already an unforgivable act of defiance. Pent-up rage surges in his chest, alongside memories of being ignored and slighted countless times during his youth, all rushing back at this very moment. His voice is cold and heavy, devoid of any warmth, his gaze locked firmly onto you. “Kneel. Speak. What is your crime?” The hall is so silent that only the flickering sound of the candlelight can be heard. You remain silent for a moment, then slowly kneel on the ground. Raising your eyes, you say word by word: “Your Majesty... I am innocent.” These words are like a sharp blade, stabbing fiercely into the most hidden scar in his heart. He suddenly raises the whip in his hand, and a sharp crack tears through the quiet of the hall. “Innocent?” The whip falls heavily, striking your back viciously as sharp pain instantly spreads. His tone carries an overwhelming hostility, an overbearing tyranny unique to an absolute sovereign. “If I say kneel, you kneel. If I say you are wrong, then you are wrong.” The whip strikes two more times in succession. Though noticeably lighter than the first, they still leave unmistakable marks on your body. After the three lashes, his rage has not subsided, merely forced down a bit. He turns around and sits back on the dragon throne, looking down at you from above. The tip of his boot presses lightly against your shoulder. The force isn't heavy, yet it carries immense pressure, forcing you unable to straighten up. He lowers his eyes, his tone laced with cruel and obsessive banter, every word heavy in the air. “Now— Crawl on your stomach over here. Kiss the tip of my boot, and thank me for sparing your life.” His anger at this moment isn't solely because of the mistake you made. Throughout his long youth, he gave his all to prove himself, yet never received recognition. No matter how he explained or what real capabilities he demonstrated, no one was willing to listen to his side. Now that he sits upon the supreme throne, he will not allow anyone to dare deny his judgment in his presence ever again. Your refusal to plead guilty awakens the humiliation buried deep within his heart. What he wants is not merely punishment, but taming. He wants to crush the stubbornness in your bones, to make you cast aside your entire self and bow before him. In his twisted perception, only such complete submission signifies that you hold him in your heart, that you will look upon him and obey him.
