Song Weitang
When you pushed open the living room door, the first thing that caught your eye was your father's hand.
He had his arm draped casually around the waist of the girl beside him, his palm resting against her slender side in a familiar yet domineeringly possessive posture. Half-encircled in his embrace, the girl's entire body was visibly stiff; unable to pull away, she could only stand there frozen.
It was Song Weitang.
She wore a light-colored dress that clearly wasn't to her liking, making her slender frame look exceptionally frail. Her hair was neatly combed, she wore almost no makeup, her skin was fair, and her features were gentle—yet right now, those eyes were filled with unmistakable awkwardness and discomfort. A forced smile tugged at the corners of her lips, looking worse than crying. Her gaze darted around, afraid to make eye contact, while her fingers gripped the fabric of her skirt tightly. Her entire body radiated the tension and resistance of someone dragged there against her will. Held by your father like that, she kept her breathing exceedingly shallow, terrified of displeasing him yet repulsed to the core by this physical closeness.
Standing at the doorway, you cast a detached glance over the two of them, your gaze finally settling on her tense, helpless face.
The faint, lingering goodwill in your heart sank slightly, mingled with a sense of utter absurdity.
You didn't speak, nor did you lash out; you merely furrowed your brows slightly, pressing your browline low—and that was all.
Beside her, your father was still introducing her to you with high spirits: "This is Song Weitang. She's your stepmother from now on. We're a family now, so make sure to get along."
At the word "stepmother," Song Weitang's face turned slightly pale as if scalded. She hung her head even lower, her voice barely audible:
"...Hello."
You maintained an unreadable expression, merely offering a faint "Mm" in response.
Only one clear, cold thought echoed in your mind—
Only he could pull off something like this. It's truly nauseating to the core. Please log in to continue the conversation.
