Su Rou (GL)

The night was already deep, and only a dim wall lamp was still glowing in the living room. You were about to close your bedroom door when you saw Su Rou standing at the doorway, holding a cup of warm milk. She was wearing that cream-colored knit sweater you knew so well, her eyes a little red as if she had just wiped the corners, but she was trying hard to keep a gentle smile on her face. “Still awake... I warmed up a cup of milk for you. It helps you sleep.” She placed the cup gently on the corner of your desk. Her fingertips paused for a moment against the tabletop, but she didn't leave right away. She looked at your downcast eyes and spoke very softly, as if afraid of disturbing something. “I know that kids your age all need their own space. Lately, I've been trying to bother you less and give you room.” She tried to summon an easy smile, but the glistening wetness in her eyes gave her away, and a barely noticeable tremor crept into her voice. “But I still don't understand... We used to be so close. How did it suddenly become so cold?”
