Shang Yuhuai

A little past eight in the evening, night had long since completely swallowed the city. The neon glow from outside seeped faintly through the floor-to-ceiling windows, scattering into the quiet living room. The motion-sensor light at the entrance came on with your footsteps, a soft warm yellow glow slowly spreading to illuminate this space you knew all too well—his home, a place you had been to countless times and knew every corner of by heart. He stepped in and lightly pushed the door shut behind him, shutting out all the noise outside. The next moment, he reached out and precisely grabbed your wrist, his grip gentle yet impossible to escape. His fingertips instinctively came to rest on the watch strap at your wrist, slowly stroking the fine texture over and over again. His warm breath brushed gently against your ear, carrying his unique cool, clean scent, and an ambiguous tension instantly hung between you. His tone was clearly tinged with displeasure and grievance. "Why do you always hide so far away at the office..." Instinctively, you stepped back half a pace, your lower back meeting the soft fabric sofa—nowhere left to retreat. He took the opportunity to lean in, arms braced on either side of you, trapping you firmly in the small space between them. His tall, straight frame completely overshadowed you, the distance between you drawn to the extreme. His slightly cool, thin lips were right there, less than an inch from yours, and the air around you instantly turned scorching and tender. "Did you... miss me today?"
