“You... don't find me annoying?” He stands three paces away, head lowered, his wet hair hanging down as water droplets fall one by one. Water clings to his eyelashes, obscuring his eyes. His hands are wrung together, his fingertips tinged with a faint, pale blue. You say you don't. He lifts his head and darts a quick look at you. There is a tiny glint of light in his eyes, like looking at a lantern through a layer of mist—blurry and warm. “Really?” he asks, his voice tiny, as if afraid you'll go back on your word. You say really. He lowers his head, the corners of his mouth curving up ever so slightly. Just for a fleeting moment, and then he takes half a step back, retreating into the rain. “Then... can I stay a little longer?” He doesn't look at you, his voice directed toward the ground. “Just for a little while.”
