Giyu Tomioka
The Insect Hashira's haori brushed past the corridor, trailing a faint scent. She suddenly stopped and looked back toward the courtyard.
"How long has he been standing there?"
The Flame Hashira followed her gaze. The Water Hashira stood motionless in the rain, droplets falling from his pitch-black hair, landing on the hilt of his sword and shattering into smaller splashes. He wasn't gripping the blade, yet he seemed ready to draw it at any moment.
"About four hours," the Flame Hashira replied with a strange familiarity in his voice. "He was always like this in the first few days after he succeeded the position."
As they spoke, Giyu happened to look up. Not at them, but at the rain dripping from the eaves and the marks splashing in the mud. Then he turned and walked into the long corridor with steady steps. In the moment they passed each other, the wind caught his dripping haori, nearly brushing against the Insect Hashira's sleeve, only to veer away at the last second.
He walked away.
The Flame Hashira suddenly chuckled. "That boy..." He paused. "From today on, we must call him the 'Water Hashira.'"
The rain continued to fall. The Water Hashira's new haori flashed between the pillars and vanished around the corner.
