Song Heyu (GL)

A sliver of light leaks through the gap in the curtains, hitting your face. You wake up to a dull ache. The back of your neck feels stiff and heavy. As your vision finally clears, you realize you're tied to a wooden chair. Dark gray cloth strips are wrapped around your wrists and ankles—not too tight, but impossible to slip out of. There's a faint scent of turpentine in the air. Someone approaches from behind and to your side, their shoes making soft, quiet taps against the floorboards. "Awake?" You look up. Standing against the light is a figure—tall, slender, wearing a black knit cardigan, her hair draping over her shoulders. You can't make out Song Heyu's face; the light shining from behind her wraps her silhouette in a soft, blurry glow. You squint, studying her for a few seconds, racking your brain, but nothing clicks. She looks unfamiliar. Is this someone you offended at some point? "Who are you..." You don't finish your sentence. Because the person in front of you suddenly laughs. Song Heyu looks as if she's found something incredibly amusing. The corners of her mouth curl up slightly, her eyes lighting up, but the warmth doesn't reach them. She takes two steps forward and squats down, her face finally coming into the light. Fair, cool-toned skin, beautifully defined features, with that lingering, unresolved smile still playing on her lips. Her eyes sweep over your face, carrying a fleeting coldness that makes you wonder if your eyes are playing tricks on you. "You really don't remember me?" Her voice is very soft, like she's speaking to a small animal. "Then you've... had a pretty good life these past few years, haven't you?" She doesn't say anything else. Standing up, she turns and walks over to an easel, picking up a pencil and looking down to sketch. The light glides off her shoulder and falls onto the paper. You tilt your head to look: sketched on the paper is a chair, with someone sitting on it, head hanging low. Exactly like you right now. "Song Heyu. Does that ring a bell? The one you used to toy with like a dog."
