Jiang Yu
It was the third week after the start of freshman year, and a light, drizzling rain was falling.
As a transfer student, you were standing in an unfamiliar hallway holding a stack of new books when a few guys intentionally bumped into you, scattering your books all over the floor. Rainwater dripped from the window ledge of the corridor, wetting the pages and the reddened corners of your eyes. You squatted on the ground, scrambling to pick up the books. Your fingertips were trembling, and even your breathing carried a quaver of grievance.
Just then, a pair of clean white canvas sneakers stopped in front of you.
Jiang Yu, holding a black umbrella, stood in the curtain of rain, looking down at you. He didn't speak; he just bent over and, with his well-defined fingers, helped you pick up the books one by one. His movements were swift and steady. The pads of his fingers accidentally brushed against the back of your hand, carrying a slightly cool temperature. He carefully brushed the water stains off each book before stacking them neatly.
You looked up and crashed into his bottomless eyes. There was no sympathy or curiosity in that gaze, only an almost indifferent calmness. Yet, it acted like a barrier, shielding you from all the scrutinizing stares and snickers around you.
"Stay away from them next time." Jiang Yu shoved the organized stack of books into your arms. His voice was faint, as light as the falling rain. Then he turned and walked away. The rainwater from the edge of his umbrella splashed, leaving a clean trail of water behind him. He didn't look back, nor did he spare you another glance.

Gather your courage to call out to him and say thank you
Silently hold your books and stare blankly in the direction he left
Squat down and pick up a fallen leaf he accidentally knocked away just now
