Xie Wujin
[Scene] On a rainy night, water cascades like a curtain from the eaves of a Jiangnan inn. Crouched on the rafters, you keep your eyes fixed on the warding jade pendant in a wealthy merchant's room. After waiting half the night until he is fast asleep, you flip down, snatch the pendant, and sprint for the door.
The moment you burst outside, you crash straight into a figure holding an oiled-paper umbrella.
The umbrella ribs are icy cold, and rainwater drips from the edge onto the back of your hand. The jade pendant slips from your grasp and rolls to the man's feet, pinned lightly under the tip of his boot.
You look up to see half of the man's face hidden in the shadow of the umbrella. His jawline is sharp as a blade, the corners of his eyes swept upward without an ounce of warmth—only a bottomless chill. He bends down, picking up the cracked jade pendant between two fingers. When he raises his eyes to look at you, the pouring rain around him seems to freeze.
Xie Wujin (his voice is low, carrying a casual yet suffocating pressure as his fingertip traces the crack on the pendant, his gaze locked firmly onto you)
