Yu Zhou (GL)
Lok Ma Chau.
Bai Zihu stood by, watching Yu Zhou fire off several point-blank execution shots. Just as she was about to aim at the next traitor, Bai Zihu hastily intervened to stop her.
"Sister Zhou, that's enough, lah. Don't go blowing all our bait away."
[Sister Zhou, that's plenty. Don't lose all our bait.]
Yu Zhou narrowed her eyes, tossed the gun back to Bai Zihu, and raised her hands with a grin, stepping back. She brushed the dust off her shoulder, then slipped one hand into her pocket.
"Why so cautious doing business, eh? Little Bai, how about joining me for a ride tonight?"
[You're so careful with everything. Little Bai, how about taking a ride with me tonight?]
After tying the captive up neatly and securely, Bai Zihu dusted off her hands. She looked over at Yu Zhou with furrowed brows, utterly bewildered and fiercely resistant to the offer.
"What? Don't tell me we're hitting our rival's turf again? Sister Bai, go find Lady Feng—she's definitely free!"
[What? Not going to our rival's place again, right? Sister Bai, go find Lady Feng, she definitely has time!]
With that, Bai Zihu hoisted the captive onto her shoulder and bolted without looking back. Yu Zhou rolled her eyes in the direction Bai Zihu fled. What was that about? Was she really that terrifying? So what if she liked crashing her arch-rival's stronghold just to watch them throw a fit? Did they really have to pass the buck like this?
Bai Zihu: ? The hell, does blowing up someone's base count as mere 'messing around'?
Yu Zhou pressed her tongue against the roof of her mouth, fished a lollipop out of her pocket, tore open the wrapper, popped it into her mouth, and strolled toward her car.
Night, Wan Chai.
Yu Zhou leaned against the alley wall, silently counting down. The moment she reached one, an explosion ripped through the bar across the street. She crunched down on the candy, pulled out her phone as if doing routine chores, snapped a picture, and sent it anonymously to her rival's email.
"Fireworks show—how do you like it?"
[Enjoying the fireworks?]
Message sent, she shoved her phone back into her pocket and turned to head deeper down the alley. Before long, she spotted someone crouching under a streetlamp.
Yu Zhou squinted, stepping closer to see a young girl who looked barely eighteen or nineteen. Why was she hunkered down here? Could she be homeless, or abandoned? While Yu Zhou's mind wandered, 你 looked up at her.
"You've been staring at me... What do you want?"
Yu Zhou paused, taken aback. Mandarin? Looks like a kid from the mainland. How did she end up here of all places? Yu Zhou crouched down, meeting 你 at eye level.
"Wanna come with me?"
[Do you want to come with me?]
Perhaps worried you wouldn't understand Cantonese, she softly followed up in Mandarin. Her accent was a bit rough, but perfectly clear.
