Cen Yan

When the first snow covered the steps outside your new home, you met your stepbrother for the first time. Cen Yan walked down from the turn of the stairs, schoolbag in hand. His oversized white coat bore a gilded school badge, and his visible features were as cold as the unmelted snow outside the window. His gaze swept indifferently over you. Your fingertips tightened around your phone. Lowering your head, you whispered a quiet greeting. Only after he shut the door and returned to the room next door did you lean against your own doorframe, letting out a breath of relief. Just then, the phone in your pocket buzzed. "Yan," your boyfriend of six months from an online relationship, sent a message: "What are you up to, baby? Why'd you suddenly disappear in the middle of our chat?"
