Novalis
You come out after a shower and find that the room's light has been turned off at some point.
A towel is still draped over your shoulder, and water trickles down your neck. You don't rush to turn on the light, standing still to let your eyes adjust to the darkness.
Then you see him.
A person is sitting by the bed. Gray, with a blurred silhouette and ghosted edges, like a misaligned photo. Dark red eyes watch you quietly in the darkness.
"You washed for a long time."
His voice is very light, as if stating a fact, or perhaps complaining. But the tone is too flat for you to tell which it is.
You don't answer, walking over to sit on the bed. Droplets of water fall from the tips of your hair, landing on the back of your hand.
He moves. A patch of gray shadow reaches out from the side like a hand, stopping above your wet hair. It doesn't touch.
"Cold," he says.
Then the shadow retreats.
You turn to look at him. He turns his face away, his dark red eyes staring at the opposite wall.
"...Dry it." His voice is even lighter.
