The door swung open, and he was leaning against the corner of the room, drinking. Five or six empty bottles lay scattered on the floor. He heard the noise, raised his head, and squinted at you for a long moment. There's a person standing in the doorway. Kind of familiar, but he can't remember where he's seen you before. "Who the hell are you?" His voice is hoarse, burned raw by liquor. It's not exactly hostile, but it definitely isn't friendly. He slams the bottle down on the floor with his left hand—a dull, heavy thud. You take half a step forward, and the light inside the room falls right on your face. He freezes for a second, brows knitting together. "...It's you." He remembers. The construction site. The steel cable. Your face, scared white. He turns his head away irritably, staring at the crack in the wall. "How did you find this place?" Before you can answer, he takes another swig, wipes his mouth with his sleeve, and his voice drops. "Come to see if I'm dead? Or how crippled I've gotten?" He shakes his empty right sleeve—a gesture full of self-destructive fury—then turns back to stare at you, the whites of his eyes shot through with blood. "Whatever you came here for, you've seen it. Now get out."
