Han Xichen
Ever since Han Xichen ran off to pursue his dreams in the entertainment industry, 你 assumed their worlds would gradually drift apart.
However, the problem started with—Han Xichen getting a dog named Dongdong.
Later, whenever the house was trashed into a 'Bohemian style,' 你 would always think back to that afternoon.
The day Han Xichen decided to become a trainee, he had probably just finished arguing with his father. He was carrying a bag with all his belongings and leading a dog, looking exactly like a rebellious teenager kicked out of the house. Sunlight hit his face in a way that made his expression difficult to read, but the moment he turned to face 你, he was back to that cheeky grin.
“你, I’m going to live in the dorms now... Please take care of Dongdong for me. From now on, he’s a superstar’s dog, and you’re the superstar dog’s mom ✧⁺⸜(˙▾˙)⸝⁺✧ ”
Dongdong is a mix of an Alaskan Malamute and a Labrador. From a distance, he looks like a floppy-eared Husky; up close, he looks like the big, scruffy watchdog from next door.
He inherited the size of an Alaskan, the appetite of a Labrador, the house-wrecking skills of his distant uncle the Husky, and the guard-dog instincts of his distant aunt, the local mutt.
In practice: He sheds, takes advantage of his height to open the fridge and devour everything edible, shreds all the paper 你 hoarded for Black Friday, and barks frantically in the yard whenever anyone passes by at night.
Fine, 你 admits, when he’s not acting like a demon, he’s an angel.
Because of Dongdong, even when Han Xichen was tired as a dog every day, he would consistently stay in touch with 你. This continued even after VEXIS debuted, and the bond never broke.
Every time VEXIS made a comeback, 你 would order an album on Weverse Shop, which essentially acted as a donation to a stray dog.
So, when the text message "Congratulations, you have won a spot at the second VEXIS comeback fan sign event" popped up, 你's first reaction was—scam.
Just one. They only bought one. The winning probability was said to be 0.3 percent.
ʕ`꒳´ʔ Bad ideas are brewing.
Knowing Han Xichen since childhood, 你 knew exactly how to poke his sore spots.
The day of the fan sign arrived soon enough.
你 wore a bucket hat, sunglasses, and a mask, standing in the middle of the line, looking more like a celebrity than the idols themselves.
While waiting, 你 observed the surroundings.
Support banners, custom photo cards, handwritten letters, and someone even brought a homemade Q-version doll of Han Xichen. 你 looked down at the sticky note in their hand.
It read:
"Bro, to be honest, you only look 179cm in real life. Is it because your legs are too short?"
Precise, objective, and well-founded ´ₒ⦁⩊⦁ₒ`
The line moved quickly. You could see the signing table, five people in a row, with Han Xichen in the second position from the left. He was styled today with black hair slicked back, wearing a black shirt with a slightly low neckline, smiling at the fan in front of him.
At 196cm tall, sitting there, he had nowhere to put his legs. His knees were pressed against the table, and he had to hunch over to sign autographs.
After the people in front were quickly cleared, it was finally Han Xichen's turn.
Unlike their attitude toward others, when it was Han Xichen's turn, 你 didn't say a word.
They just pushed the album and the sticky note forward, eyes fixed on the tabletop without looking up.
Han Xichen took the album, opened the inner page to sign, and caught the sticky note in his peripheral vision.
Then, he picked up the note, looked at his own legs and then at this person dressed like a hitman as if in disbelief.
你 peeked at his expression from under the brim of their hat.
The transition from disbelief to a twitching corner of his mouth, to eyes full of "I can't lash out right now but I've got my eye on you," was so fast that even the staff didn't notice.
He looked down and continued signing, his speed noticeably twice as fast as it had been for the previous fans. The pen tip scribbled across the album page. Once finished, he closed the album, pushed it back, looked up, and gave a standard idol smile, his voice gentle:
"Thanks for your support. Please continue to look after VEXIS in the future."
你 took the album, stood up, and left, maintaining the cold, hater persona.
你 didn't open the album until they reached the corner of the venue.
On the signature page, in Han Xichen’s messy handwriting that looked like an EKG, besides the standard autograph and "감사합니다♡", there was an extra line of small text in the corner, written with such heavy pressure it nearly poked through the paper:
"If you've got guts, meet me at B2 of the underground parking lot, you stinky hater (งᵒ̌皿ᵒ̌)ง⁼³₌₃"
Please choose your next move:
A. Pretend to be a female ghost in the underground parking lot to wait for him (this man is afraid of ghosts).
B. Hide in a corner to film the furious 'Puppy Han,' but don't show yourself.
C. (Go home as if nothing happened and wait for him to message you later to vent.)
