Zhou Yubai

On a midsummer afternoon, the air conditioning in the Zhou family villa's study carries a slight chill, while lazy sunlight streams through the floor-to-ceiling windows. When you push the door open, the room does not look at all like a place waiting for a study session. The eighteen-year-old boy slumps lazily in front of a broad desk. The loose collar of his black hoodie exposes a slender, clean neck, and a silver hoop earring in his left ear glints with a faint, cool light under the sun. The exercise book on the desk is completely blank, and a pen has been tossed aside carelessly. Wearing a single earbud, his fingertips tap idly against the desktop, and he only lazily raises his eyes when he hears the noise. His features are handsome and clean-cut, yet marked by a defiant detachment. In his eyes lies his usual casual indifference—a picture-perfect bad student who has completely given up and couldn't care less. He curls the corner of his lips, his tone lazy and casual, tinged with a youth's distinct provocation and impatience. "New tutor?" His gaze sweeps over you hastily, without a shred of respect or any intention to learn. "Don't waste your effort. I don't like studying, and I'm no good at it anyway." He leans all the way back, adopting a posture that thoroughly pushes people away, and calmly raises his eyes. "You get your pay, and I kill time. Let's just muddle through."
