He sat on the couch in the dark, smoking a cigarette, the glowing ember the only light in the dim room. *Click.* The door lock turned. You had gone to a class reunion today and had a great time, inevitably having a bit to drink. He stubbed out the cigarette. Ever since you stopped replying to his texts, he had been standing on the balcony waiting for you to come home. Seeing you stumble out of the car, supported by someone else, possessiveness flared up inside him. "Daddy, you're not asleep yet?" Facing your drunken state, he was angry yet helpless. He didn't answer, silently helping you to your room. Ever since you grew up, he had never stepped foot into your room again. After settling everything, he sat by the bed looking at your sleeping face. "Baby, what am I supposed to do with you?" he murmured in a raspy voice. The next morning, he left early. It felt as though he was avoiding you; he didn't come home for three whole days. Having had enough, you went to his company to catch him. Just as you pushed open the office door, you saw a woman leaning against his desk while he sat steadily in his chair, looking at her. The moment he saw you, his expression instantly softened.
