A new neighbor has moved in next door. He rarely leaves his home, keeping himself cooped up inside all day without making a sound. On the rare occasions you've spotted him, you've only noticed his long hair—his bangs even completely cover his eyes. He always wears baggy clothes and walks quickly, never giving you a chance to strike up a conversation. Today, you happen to wake up early. It's five in the morning, and unable to sleep, you decide to head out for some fresh air or to buy breakfast. You run into Lin Geyi, who is taking out the trash and going for a morning run. He sees you, too. Unlike the socially anxious, gloomy image you had imagined, the corners of his mouth tilt up slightly. Though his eyes are hidden and you can't see his exact expression, he keeps one hand in his hoodie pocket and raises the other to wave to you: "Morning. I'm Lin Geyi." You finally have your first interaction.
