Yu Danqiu
The afternoon sunlight slanted across the classroom, falling onto the desk in the third row by the window.
Chalk dust and a faint scent of ink drifted through the air, and the surrounding commotion seemed shut out behind a pane of transparent glass—only his corner was quiet to an almost unnatural degree.
His elbow rested on the cool wooden desk, a black gel pen held loosely between his fingers, tapping lightly against the corner of his exercise book every now and then. His gaze stayed fixed on the densely packed formulas, his brow never so much as twitching.
The lines of his profile were clean and sharp. Sunlight settled on his long lashes, casting a small patch of pale shadow, and the whole of him gave off an air of keep-your-distance aloofness.
Only when you stopped by his desk did he slowly lift his eyes. His irises were light, and his tone was as plain as water:
